12 Jul Microsoft blocks users from latest Windows 10 update and your PC could be on the list
MICROSOFT is blocking Windows 10 users from accessing its latest major update. Here’s how to find out if your PC has been affected.
Windows 10 users have been put on alert that Microsoft is blocking a number of PCs from accessing their latest major update. Towards the end of May the Redmond-based tech giant started rolling out one of the year’s blockbuster updates for Windows 10. This patch was the Windows 10 May 2020 update, which offered major features like password-less login and improvements to Bluetooth connectivity among other tweaks.
However, despite beginning its rollout over one month ago the Windows 10 update has still not been released to all users. That’s because the Microsoft patch has been hit with a litany of problems, ranging from issues with USB printers, Google Chrome and the Storage Spaces functionality and amid this backdrop of teething problems it’s been reported Microsoft has been blocking the Windows 10 May 2020 update to more devices.
In a post online Windows Latest claimed Microsoft has started blocking the Windows 10 May 2020 update to a “wide range of devices”.
When affected users attempt to download Windows 10 version 2004 they’ll be treated to an error message which says their machine “can’t be upgraded”. This message appears when trying to use Update Assistant to download and install the May 2020 update. Errors also pop up when checking for updates in Windows Update. The Update Assistant error message says: “This PC can’t upgrade to Windows 10. Your PC isn’t supported yet on this version of Windows 10.
“No action is needed. Windows Update will offer this version of Windows 10 automatically once the issue has been resolved” and it’s been reported that since the beginning of this month more and more people are seeing that they’re unable to download the Windows 10 May 2020 update. That’s because, as revealed in documentation online, from July 1 Windows 10 version 2004 has been blocked on devices that use Parity feature of Storage Spaces. Advertisement
